The word ‘embedding’ in problem 6 refers to a topological embedding, i.e. a continuous injective function f : X → Y such that the function g: f[X] → X defined by g(f(x)) = x is continuous.
I had to change Problem 16, because I was mistaken about what definition was used in class. I apologize for the confusion that this might have caused.
I have been asked for the result of Problem 25, especially the sign. Therefore here is a complete solution along the lines of the calculation of the special case n=2 done in the tutorial.
This is for those who have only about 50% or less of the points so far. If you hand in solutions to these, we will still expect you to score reasonably well on the problem sets after the holidays, so it will be useless to you raise your score considerably above 50% with this extra problem set.
